The region’s biggest Labor Day picnic will be back this September. Northwest Oregon Labor Council’s event, which drew 12,000 in a typical year, went on hiatus during the COVID pandemic, and was mothballed one more year in 2022 because of limitations imposed by the management of its longtime venue, Oaks Amusement Park.

On Jan. 23, Northwest Oregon Labor Council delegates approved plans to reserve Clackamas County Fairgrounds this year. Planning is still in the early stages, but the event will take place Monday, Sept. 4. It will include food, games, areas for different union locals to congregate, and a central gathering area where union members can hear from allied elected officials.
