Victor T. Weekes Sr., a Nabisco worker and longtime officer of Bakers Local 364, died May 7 of multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer. He was 77.

Weekes was born March 11, 1945, in Barbados, and worked in the merchant marine before settling in Portland, where he worked at Boise Cascade. He met and married Emery Kaye a coworker and fellow shop steward at the plant. She retired in 2012. He continued working at the plant until 2018, and remained active in the union afterward.

From 2004 to 2021 he served as Local 364’s secretary-treasurer. In recent years he was active in the boycott of Mexican-made Nabisco products and in the struggle to get a fair contract at Nabisco.
