Several hundred delegates and guests will gather in Seaside, Oregon, Sept. 19-22, for the Oregon AFL-CIO’s biennial convention, in which representatives of affiliated unions will elect a new president and secretary-treasurer.

This year’s convention will hear from four state and national labor leaders: national AFL-CIO Secretary-Treasurer Liz Shuler; American Federation of Government Employees international President David Cox; California Labor Federation Executive Secretary-Treasurer Art Pulaski; and North Carolina AFL-CIO President MaryBe McMillan. Sarita Gupta, former director of national Jobs with Justice, and Oregon U.S. Sen. Jeff Merkley, a staunch labor ally, will also address delegates.

Delegates also expect to vote on dozens of policy resolutions, including one declaring support for health care for all, and another spelling out what kinds of labor standards any proposed climate legislation would need to have in order to get labor support.
