Workers at Oregon Public a and Portland jazz station KMHD ratified a first union contract after nearly two years of negotiation. The three-year agreement covers close to 90 workers represented by SAG-AFTRA at the two non-profit broadcasters. The bargaining unit includes on-air staff, hosts, and reporters plus digital, audio, and video producers who produce for radio, TV, and online.
Under the terms of the agreement, KMHD hosts who will see a nearly 30% increase retroactive to July 1, 2025. The agreement sets minimum salaries of at least $65,000 a year and mandates annual increases of at least 3%. The contract also has provisions for safety, layoffs, and severance and sets up grievance processes.
