After six years in the permitting process, backers of a proposed $2.5 billion renewable fuel production facility in Clatskanie have one final hurdle to jump before they can break ground on the all-union project. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers finally released its Draft Environmental Impact Statement Feb. 27, and now it’s taking public comment.
Project sponsor NXT Clean Fuels says it’s critical that supporters of the project make their voices heard, submitting emails and signing up for public testimony at virtual public hearings April 1 and 2.
NXT has committed to use union labor in construction and to remain neutral if production workers unionize once the plant is in operation.
