On Jan. 7, SAG-AFTRA (Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists) announced the nominees for its 32nd annual awards event. Formerly known as the SAG Awards, this year they were rebranded as the Actor Awards.
The awards honor outstanding individual, cast, and ensemble performances in both film and television. Winners are determined entirely by the performers’ peers — the 118,000 members of SAG-AFTRA. Unlike the Oscars, these union awards also honor the work of entire casts, not just individual actors. Voting opened on Jan. 14 and closes Feb. 27. Winners will be announced live on Netflix on March 1.
