IBEW Local 48 is reeling from news of a double murder and suicide in Southeast Portland Sept. 6 that involved a 22-year-old second-year apprentice. Police say Miguel Morgan shot his 10-year-old sister Liliana Morgan and his mother, 48-year-old Maria Florencia Rubio, before turning the gun on himself.
Morgan was the grandson of a retired Local 48 member Daniel Trutton. Trutton is seeking support for funeral expenses for the three via GoFundMe. Another GoFundMe was started by a surviving sibling, Mateo Cristian, for support with funeral expenses and paying the mortgage on his family home.
