More than 2,000 potential trades workers visited the NECA-IBEW training center May 16 and 17 for Oregon Tradeswomen’s 30th annual career fair.
The two-day event featured 97 employers, with some providing hands-on activities like ironworking, carpentry, operating an excavator, laying bricks, and fixing a water main break.
Around 1,600 students and chaperones from 73 schools attended on Friday. Then 800 adult job seekers attended on Saturday, when the career fair was open to the public.
Union training programs were a big part of the event.
