The Southwest Washington Central Labor Council saw three of its four endorsed candidates win in Washington’s Nov. 7 election. The council backed three incumbents and all were re-elected by sizable margins as the counts stood on Nov. 14:

  • Vancouver City Council member Sarah J. Fox (79%)
  • Vancouver School District board members Kathy Decker (69%) and Tracie Barrows (71%)

Fire Fighters Local 452 also scored a win with the re-election of incumbent Clark County Fire District Commissioner Mike Lyons (82%) and with incumbent Port of Vancouver Commissioner Don Orange (69%).

But Brigid Taylor, a union teacher in the Ridgefield School District and wife of a Clark Co. Fire District 6 firefighter, fell short (42%) in her challenge to incumbent commissioner Jade Bourke at Clark-Cowlitz Fire and Rescue District. Taylor was endorsed by the labor council and Local 452.

Meanwhile, the only candidate endorsed by Cowlitz-Wahkiakum Central Labor Council lost his race: Three-term incumbent Longview City Council member Mike Wallin fell short with 48%.
