Nearly 1,800 nurses and clinicians represented by the Oregon Nurses Association set a June 19 strike date at Providence Portland Medical Center, Providence Seaside Hospital, and Providence Home Health and Hospice.

Unless a tentative agreement is reached before then, the strike is set to start at 5:30 a.m. at Providence Portland and at 7 a.m. at Providence Home Health and Hospice and Providence Seaside.

The three units started negotiating new contracts eight months ago. They say management has not taken seriously their proposals to set safe staffing standards and improve wages, healthcare benefits, and paid leave programs.
