Workers at North Pacific Paper Company (NORPAC) narrowly voted against unionizing last month. A union campaign at the Longview paper mill launched in late November. Ballots were tallied Feb. 22. International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) Local 21 and the Association of Western Pulp & Paper Workers (AWPPW) were both on the ballot.

Out of 226 voters, 108 voted to affiliate with ILWU and 2 voted to go with AWPPW, and 116 voted against unionizing, according to the National Labor Relations Board. The election drew 79% turnout.
