Merger brings Idaho and Wyoming into UFCW Local 555

United Food and Commercial Workers Local 555 has expanded into Idaho and Wyoming. In August, members of UFCW Local 368A, headquartered in Boise, voted to merge into Local 555.

Local 368’s jurisdiction was southern Idaho, eastern Oregon, and western Wyoming. Local 555 adds that to its existing jurisdiction of Southwest Washington and the rest of Oregon.

The merger adds 1,100 new members to Local 555, bringing its total membership to 24,900.

Headquartered in Tigard, Local 555 mostly represents workers in grocery stores, but also production workers at Danner Boot and Foster Farms poultry, health care workers including pharmacy workers at Kaiser Permanente, and dozens of other employers.

Idaho and Wyoming are so-called right-to-work states, meaning that they bar union contracts from requiring that represented workers pay union dues.
