The Portland Rising Committee of Portland Jobs With Justice last month debuted a new Portland Labor History Tour—a self-guided tour designed to put people in touch with the city’s rich labor history.
So far the tour includes Francis Murnane Memorial Wharf, a public memorial to a longshore union leader; a labor history mural at PCC Sylvania; and the headquarters of a newspaper run by striking Oregonian reporters in the early 1960s.
See all 19 sites at jwjpdx.org/portlandrising/portland-labor-history-tour/. The committee is also looking to add additional sites to the tour. Email suggestions to [email protected].
