A group of 118 technical employees at Providence medical facilities in southern Oregon is petitioning to join Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 49.
The Jan. 20 filing covers a variety of technical positions, such as anesthesia and cardiovascular technologists. They work at Providence Medford Medical Center, an acute care hospital and at several clinics in and around Medford. An election date has not yet been set.
Nurses at the Medford hospital are represented by the Oregon Nurses Association (ONA).
SEIU Local 49, based in Portland, represents more than 15,000 members in Oregon, Washington and Idaho.
