O'Connor, Petroff seek re-election at Northwest Oregon Labor Council

Judy O'Connor, executive secretary-treasurer of the Portland-based Northwest Oregon Labor Council, and Bob Petroff, president, are teaming up to run for re-election to their respective posts at the state's largest central labor council.

O'Connor, a member of Office and Professional Employees Local 11, was elected to the full-time position last year to fill the unexpired term of Ron Fortune, who retired.

Petroff was elected president of the council in February, filling the unexpired term of Ray Baker, who also retired. Petroff is a business representative assigned to organizing for Machinists District Lodge 24.

O'Connor was the labor council's office manager for 16 years prior to being elected its chief executive officer.

Petroff has been a member of Machinists Lodge 63 for 25 years. He worked at Nabisco Co., the Portland ship repair yard and on the shipyard maintenance crew.

The Northwest Oregon Labor Council has 100 local union affiliates that represent 56,000 union members in Multnomah, Clackamas, Columbia and Washington counties.

It is the largest of the 13 AFL-CIO central labor councils in Oregon and the only one with a full-time officer and staff.
