Victory at UPS
In a big win for their members and all of organized labor, the Teamsters reached a new five-year agreement with United Parcel Service (UPS) on Aug. 18, ending a two-week strike. All the details of the contract will be sent to the 185,000 Teamster UPS workers for a mail vote, union President Ron Carey said.

Service Employees strike Kaiser

Some 2,000 members of Portland-based Service Employees Local 49 walked off the job at Kaiser Permanente Sept. 2 in a dispute over health care benefits.

UFCW imaging techs settle at Kaiser

Kaiser Permanente's imaging technicians ended a two-week strike Aug. 18, ratifying a new four-year agreement.
