Several hundred pay respects to workers
killed on the job
- Several hundred Oregon workers walked through the streets of downtown Portland April 28 in a memorial "Parade of Prayers" for workers killed on the job. Among the marchers were family members of Iron Workers Union members Donn Soto, Christopher Rider and Bill Cosgrove.
SEIU embarks on organizing drive
at SW Washington Medical Center
- Health care workers, including registered nurses, emergency and operating room technicians and front-line caregivers are involved in a union organizing campaign with Service Employees Local 49 at Southwest Washington Medical Center.
Portland City Council okays new living
wage
- "It's a great victory for Portland's low-wage workers," declared Yvonne Martinez, co-chair of Jobs with Justice. "Now let's move on to make all of Portland a fair wages city."
