mark Dec. 13 without any sign of a management change in heart.

Oregonian asks staffers to scab at paper in Ohio
Reporters at the non-union Oregonian newspaper are being offered double
salaries to help their parent company, the Newhouse-owned Advance Publications,
Inc., in an effort to break a strike at the Vindicator newspaper in Youngstown,
claims Cliff Gutwig, 73
as apprenticeship coordinator for the Oregon-SW Washington Painters Joint
Apprenticeship and Training Committee for 12 years, and as a business
representative of Local 10 for 5 1/2 years.
AFL-CIO hires first full-time organizer, names research director
AFL-CIO has named Patty Wentz its new Research and Education director
and hired Matt Swanson as its first full-time organizer.
