The Iron Workers Local 29 Retirees Club has new officers. At a retirees’ luncheon Nov. 10, Jack Cole, Larry Jordan, and Jamie Maygra stepped down after serving 10 years as president, vice president, and secretary treasurer, respectively. New officers are Mark Lautenschlager, president; Don Hall, vice president; and Ron McDowell, secretary treasurer.
The group has been unable to meet for 18 months because of coronavirus restrictions. But with vaccinations now available, they decided to start meeting again. The November luncheon drew more than 40 retirees.
McDowell said the group will start showcasing iconic ironworkers in hopes of boosting attendance. The next meeting, Jan. 12, will feature 91-year-old Lloyd Haattia.
Meetings are held at the union hall at 11620 NE Ainsworth Circle, Portland.
