Governor Brown nominates unionists

Several union figures were among the 76 individuals appointed by Oregon Governor Kate Brown to state board and commissions, the governor’s office announced April 15.

Michael Burch, community relations representative for the Pacific Northwest Regional Council of Carpenters was appointed to a four-year term on the Oregon State Apprenticeship and Training Council.

John Scanlan, a Pendleton middle school language arts teacher and board member of the Oregon Education Association, was appointed to a seat on the Public Employees Retirement Board, and Siobhan Martin, deputy executive director of SEIU Local 503, was reappointed.

The Oregon Senate Rules Committee is scheduled to consider the nominations the week of May 10.
