Laborers Local 737 political and legislative assistant Danielle Garza will join several other union representatives as a member of the Oregon Apprenticeship and Training Council (OSATC). Appointed by Oregon Kate Brown Feb. 2 to a four-year term, she was confirmed by the Oregon Senate on March 4.

OSATC—Chaired by Oregon Labor Commissioner Val Hoyle—is responsible for approving new apprenticeship programs, advising the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries on apprenticeship policy, and making decisions about individual apprentices’ registration, discipline, and placement.

Garza, who has a background in human resources management, has worked for Local 737 since January 2020. Garza said her priority on OSATC will be to foster apprentice opportunities for women and people of color.
