Six members of IAM Lodge 63 volunteered to put together 80 bicycles for the Presents from Partners Holiday Party sponsored by Labor’s Community Services Agency.

The bikes were purchased by the ILWU Federal Credit Union, which runs a year-round fundraiser (tip jars at teller windows) and conducts various raffles at ILWU events. This year they raised $16,500.

On Nov. 30, Brandon Michels, John Albus, Doug White, Paul Nance, Matt White, and Daniel Bricker worked for several hours in a small space in the back of the credit union assembling the bikes, which ranged from 10” tall with training wheels to full-size bikes for teens.

The bikes will be gifts at the holiday party on Dec. 15. The labor-sponsored event is for families of unemployed union members and those facing temporary hardships.
